Mom’s Cereal Snacks

My dear mom has experimented with this recipe for the last 40 years. And you know, I think she finally got it right! This is snack is unbelievably delicious and totally addictive. ~LINDA

 

Ingredients:

  • ½ stick margarine or butter, melted
  • ½ cup oil
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. seasoned salt
  • 3 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2-3 Tbsp. Tabasco
  • 2 Tbsp. Liquid Smoke
  • 1 cup mixed nuts
  • 1 cup cashew nuts
  • 2 cups pecans
  • 1 cup peanuts
  • 1 cup almonds
  • 4-6 cups Corn Chex
  • 4-6 cups Rice Chex
  • 4-6 cups Traditional Chex Mix
  • 2 cups small pretzels
  • 2 cups cheese/fish crackers

Directions:

In 1-quart glass measuring cup, melt butter, add oil; add Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco , and Liquid Smoke and stir. Next add garlic powder, onion powder, and seasoned salt and stir well.

In large container, mix all dry ingredients; Chex, crackers, pretzels, and nuts.

Pour liquid mixture over dry ingredients, 1 tablespoon at a time, and stir. Bake in one large pan or two smaller pans at 275 degree oven for one hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Pour out onto paper towels (over newspaper) to cool and absorb excess oil.

Creates 22 to 28 cups. Great for gift giving.
